Olympic Edition of Richard Wilde's Problems : Solutions series

Richard Wilde, former chair of the BFA Design and BFA Advertising departments, taught a course for many years called Visual Literacy. An integral part of that course consisted of template assignments called "Problems : Solutions," in which a student would create a graphic work based around particular given constraints (a set of blank assignments can be found here).

One of those assignments was to create cachets celebrating the various aspects of the 1980 Winter Olympics, held in Lake Placid, NY. Students were given a list of related events/topics and restricted to two of the official Olympics colors (most chose black or gray). As the XXIV Winter Olympics in Beijing draws to a close, we thought you might enjoy a sampling of some of the envelopes we have in the archives, including one by SVA's 3D Design guru, Kevin O'Callaghan.
